Our mission is to develop intelligent robotic gripper and sensing systems and the technology for their sustainable design and fabrication.
We aim to push additive manufacturing as a fabrication technology to support the Green Deal and enable easy access to everybody. We support the regional, Austrian and European industry through the transfer of research results into industrial practice and by inclusion of all relevant user groups throughout the development.
Our Research Focus
We are currently focusing our research within the following application fields:
sensor design and integration into smart wearable systems
smart medical phantoms
development of smart prosthesis and orthosis systems with future prospects toward exo-skeletons
robotic path planning for additive fabrication
sensor and system simulation for environmental perception and interaction based on tactile and proximity sensing
sensor signal processing and AI
robotic gripper design of multi-material and soft robotic systems

Interreg SIAT project with the aim to establish a network for Additive Manufacturing. Specific goals are the development of real labs for 3D printing, materials characterization and education and training.
EU react project supported by KWF. Aim is the development of Additive Manufacturing processes for advanced materials (biofibers, smart materials, silicone hybrid, carbon) and with biomimetic design approach.
Financed by EU-react and supported by KWF – Aim is the development and implementation of a pilot line for continuous fiber and multi-material 3D printing.
Main focus is topology optimization by considering materials and structural scatter leading to a robust design approach. The project is financed by UTC and FH Kärnten.
