About us

At our research group ENABLE for health, care and inclusion we focus on two central areas of life that affect almost everyone: Health and inclusion. When one of these areas is compromised, it can significantly affect quality of life, independence and functional capacity. Our work aims to meet these challenges through innovative approaches and to develop solutions that have an immediate impact on people’s everyday lives.

Focus areas:

  • Health promotion
  • Support in everyday life
  • Digitalization in Healthcare
  • Therapy
  • Care and support
  • Movement analysis
  • Ethical questions
  • Environment and sustainability

Methods:

Our research group is characterized by transdisciplinary collaboration. A core team from different disciplines works together on socially relevant issues in the areas of health, care and inclusion. We focus on participatory research or pursue an open innovation in science approach in order to develop real-world solutions. We achieve a direct social impact through close cooperation with the people affected and involved. With multi-perspective evaluations – such as impact analysis, quality of life, acceptance and user experience – we ensure that our innovations are suitable for everyday use and inclusive.

The Human Centered Design process according to DIN EN ISO-Norm 9241-210. A diagram with the user in the center. Around it the serval steps of the human centered design process in a circle, one leading to another. The process is iterative and only ends once a sufficiently good enough result is reached.

Results:

Central to our work is enabling people to better shape their everyday lives. We develop and evaluate social innovations that improve the quality of life – both individually and collectively. Our research results are based on comprehensive evaluations of services and products as well as on findings from the development processes themselves. The aim is to find effective solutions that can be accepted by the target groups and sustainably anchored in everyday life. At ENABLE, we rely on open innovation processes to develop social innovations together with the people affected. This type of research continuously improves our methodological approaches and processes.
