This year the first annual congress of the Geriatric Medicine<\/a> took place 10-12 October 2019 in Styria. The main topics of this conference were active and healthy ageing as well as innovative geriatric medicine. The focus was also on research topics in the field of Active and Assisted Living (AAL), to present regional projects and exchange practical experience. Therefore, a part of our research group \u2013 Daniela Krainer and Elena Oberrauner \u2013 were also represented in Graz.<\/p>

In the AAL session, Daniela Krainer presented the practical implementation of the Health Care Center Model and the results of Smart VitAALity project. Participants had the opportunity to test the Smart VitAALity System in the exhibition room at the booth of the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences. In various series of lectures, topics such as dementia, talking medicine, nutrition and fall risk, care of acute geriatric patients and polypharmacy in old age were examined and critically reflected.<\/p>
