Important fields of expertise are electromagnetic field simulations, analog/digital/RF lab measurements & debugging, HW/SW systems and high-level M/S modelling approaches using state of the art EDA tools and prototyping hardware like FPGAs.

Applications

Telematics applications, sensors for active and assisted living (AAL), smart/wireless sensor networks and proximity sensors for robotics is just a selection of applications, where integrated circuits within RESPECT are developed.

Automation and Overall Methodology

One key aspect of the development cycle is efficiency. This requires well-thought methodologies and using automation wisely. This ensures e.g. that standard blocks can be developed and tested fast based on re-use and well defined specifications, which leaves more time and effort for new developments. Thus, meta-modelling, scripting languages, virtual/executable specifications, incorporating cetain tools and fostering standards like IP-XACT or SystemC play a significant role in the overall design cycle for us.

Goals

The RESPECT department is associated to different study programs within the faculty of Engineering & IT. It enables close research cooperation and know‐how exchange between different related fields of expertise, which is a requirement to handle complex “multi‐disciplinary” related research and development tasks.

A main focus of the department is to be a strong and attractive R&D partner for local industry as well as a competent research partner for national and international cooperative research projects.

Check out this short introduction video:

https://forschung.fh-kaernten.at/respect/files/2021/11/S4-3-Respect-Tdf-2021-1.m4v

Projects &
