On October 14, CUAS researchers Giorgio Mattarollo, Antroula Georgiou and Lazar Azdejkovic visited the headquarters of Antonio Basso S.p.A. in Treviso (Italy) to produce four of the five beams to be tested during the demonstration phase of the project.
The beams produced include a traditional reference beam, two innovative beams developed using eco-friendly concrete mixes and optimized geometries to further reduce their environmental impact, and finally a traditional beam that will be retrofitted at the CUAS headquarters.
The team was guided in the company’s laboratory by engineer Antonio Basso together with laboratory manager Salvatore Marchi, who provided insights into the production and quality control processes. Antonio Basso and Angelo Basso then accompanied the researchers on a tour of the production area and the rest of the plant, explaining the prefabrication processes and technologies used by the company.
