{"id":483,"date":"2025-10-31T09:22:26","date_gmt":"2025-10-31T08:22:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forschung.fh-kaernten.at\/sitar\/2025\/10\/31\/participation-in-semc-2025-2\/"},"modified":"2025-10-31T09:25:04","modified_gmt":"2025-10-31T08:25:04","slug":"participation-in-semc-2025-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forschung.fh-kaernten.at\/sitar\/en\/2025\/10\/31\/participation-in-semc-2025-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Participation in SEMC 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"483\" class=\"elementor elementor-483 elementor-467\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2ef3a7e e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"2ef3a7e\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-02d9894 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"02d9894\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>As part of the Interreg project, the University of Udine took part in the international conference &#8220;The Ninth International Conference on Structural Engineering, Mechanics and Computation (SEMC 2025)&#8221;, which was held in Cape Town, South Africa.<\/p><p>The event brought together professors and engineers from different countries around the world to discuss important research topics in the field of civil engineering.<\/p><p>The university&#8217;s contribution consisted of the presentation of a paper entitled &#8220;Comparison of the CO\u2082 footprint between reinforced concrete and CLT buildings&#8221;, which compared the carbon dioxide emissions of reinforced concrete structures and X-LAM structures (CLT). The study highlighted the effectiveness of using environmentally friendly materials such as wood for the construction of buildings as an alternative to concrete: in this way, it is possible to achieve a CO\u2082 emission value for the components that is below zero. <\/p><p>The importance of this participation was to promote the topic of sustainability by presenting some of the research results achieved within the SITAR project.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7f4e8d5 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"7f4e8d5\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7a32931
