Microcredentials

The final curriculum scope (topic inclusion/exclusion, and topic breadth/depth), will be decided within the project, informed by the target learners (i.e. the partner HSCO (Health & Social Care organisations) representatives), and also older person representatives, as it is crucial that they inform learning that relates specifically to their healthcare.

The list below represent the current proposed content following the classifications of the competence profiles. ESCO (European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations) skills and competences classifications are also used where relevant, marked by an Asterix; all MCs are offered at EQF (European Qualifications Framework) level 6; in bold are MCs also offered at EQF level 4-5 (exact level will be decided early during project to match topic and expected learners’ abilities/needs):

Knowledge & analytical skills (3 MCs; 4 ECTS)

1. Understanding climate change and its effects on older persons’ health (2 ECTS) (climate change fundamentals, climate drivers, climate variability incl. complexity of interactions, uncertainties and unanticipated consequences of global environmental change; habitat & biodiversity loss, infectious diseases)

2. Assessing and prioritising risk for Climate Adaptation in healthcare (1ECTS) (includes social & environmental determinants of health, vulnerability, risk, resilience, justice & equality; introduces local, national, European and global information about climate change effects on the health of older persons in specific regions

3. Applying sustainability principles in health care* (1 ECTS) (incl. climate mitigation; carbon footprint of health care delivery)

(Self-) Management Skills (5 MCs; 6 ECTS)

4. Coping with uncertainty* & mental resilience (self and others) (1 ECTS) (includes building psychological strength
to proactively confront change among professionals and the broader community (change management)

5. Managing projects from a systems perspective & project management* relevant to climate adaptation with/for older people (1 ECTS)

6. Providing inclusive leadership* in climate adaptation in HSC settings (1/2 ECTS) (more in-depth includes systems/ systemic thinking and organisational awareness/development- EQF level 6 only)

7. Applying crisis management* (1 ECTS)

8. Entrepreneurship* relevant to climate adaptation (1 ECTS) (includes climate health activism of HSC professionals)

Communication & Collaboration (4 MCs; 6 ECTS)

9. Communicating with stakeholders* (1 ECTS) (incl. challenges to climate comm.; potential bias & influence from stakeholders; Crosssectoral & transdisciplinary cooperation)

10. Using digital tools for collaboration, content creation and problem solving* in climate adaptation (2 ECTS)

11. Training others in climate adaptation in HSC settings (2 ECTS)

12. Planning and applying solutions for climate Adaptation in healthcare (1 ECTS) (includes problem solving strategies and decision making; identifying suitable indicators and metrics for quantifying change numerically)

Policy & Governance (2 MCs; 2 ECTS)

13. Influencing policy makers* & advocating (1 ECTS) (incl. role of local, national, European & global policy frameworks and governance structures to address climate change health risks for older persons; role of civil society selforganisation & mobilisation to influence policy; climate-health activism & ethical responsibility of HSC workers)

14. Promoting inclusion* and empowering individuals, families & groups* (1 ECTS) (includes encouraging sustainable behaviour in others, inspiring others, enabling creativity and innovation; and patient education)
