About us
The JR Centre for System-on-Chip Design Automation aims to research fundamentally new methods for the development of „system-on-chips“ in modern semiconductor technologies and to advance the automation of the development process of integrated circuits.
Until now, chip designers have spent a lot of time for routine tasks like reworking basic circuit blocks with already given functionality in existing technologies to enable cost reduction.
The JR Centre’s research will help to automate the development of integrated circuits and thus free up the working time of experts for innovative new development tasks, therefore making an essential contribution to strengthening competitiveness in the semiconductor industry.

CIME – Carinthia Institute for Microelectronics
The Carinthia Institute for Microelectronics (CIME) is a competence center for research and development of integrated electronic systems. CIME is strongly associated to the department of Integrated Systems and Circuits Design (ISCD) with a srong network to other department within the faculty of Engineering & IT at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences and is also based on the research of Josef Ressel Center “Interact” which was operated at CUAS until 2019.
CIME is organized in three departments “RESPECT”, “RFFE-Lab” and “SIMS” focusing on different research topics. The “Research Lab for Radio Frequency Frontends” (RFFE-Lab) is a cooperative research lab, jointly operated with Silicon Austria Labs and co-located at CUAS. In May 2023 the official opening of the „JRZ for System-on-Chip Automation SODA“ will take place.“
