Understanding Nature.
Making biodiversity measurable: that is the mission of ICEB. The center develops, tests, and deploys Biodiversity Technologies (BiDiTecs): tools and methods for assessing biodiversity and ecosystem services. By 2030 ICEB endeavors to establish a stand-alone, internationally visible hub for these future-critical technologies.
We aim to adapt and develop new technologies for the detection and monitoring of species and habitats. Being embedded within the Faculty of Engineering & IT, ICEB benefits from immediate access to cutting-edge capabilities in robotics, sensorics, artificial intelligence (AI), information and communication technologies (ICT), augmented/ virtual reality (AR/VR), data science, and more.
ICEB also operates a molecular laboratory at the department of Biomedical Sciences.
Our Mission: ICEB investigates the complex interrelationships between biodiversity and ecosystem services, makes them measurable using digital methods, and develops practical solutions for sustainable societal development.
