14th Research Forum for Austrian Universities of Applied Sciences

The slogan of this year’s 14th Research Forum for Austrian Universities of Applied Sciences (FFH) was “Shaping the future responsibly!” – and it overfulfilled this motto.

For the first time, the two-day conference, organized by the Vienna University of Applied Sciences and WKO Vienna, took place online. 14 different scientific panels and various other program items showed current research projects, research results from different disciplines as well as valuable discussions. One of the first panels, led by Cornelia Schneider (FH Wiener Neustadt) and Daniela Krainer (FH Kärnten), in cooperation with Jakob Doppler (FH St. Pölten) and Franz Werner (FH Campus Wien) focused on age-appropriate user-centered digital assistive solutions, for everyday support and living, health-solutions or social inclusion. Not only appropriate technologies are important, but also linked services and processes that contribute to a bigger picture and can therefore offer appropriate support in everyday life.

One of the five presentations focused on a project by the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences – Smart VitAALity – and the related integrated services, in particular the Health Care Center Model with the health coach. Lukas Wohofsky presented the results of the one-year field trial. In particular he examined the acceptance and everyday integration of Smart VitAALity and its health-promoting functions and services. The evaluation results showed that the optional additional service of a telemedical health service had a positive effect on the frequency of use of the vital parameters; the participants also saw a strong perceived benefit of these functions, together with the services in everyday life.

Exclusively for our readers, we provide the official presentation slides:

Now it’s time to go back to work, because after the FFH is before the FFH, and we are particularly looking forward to the FFH 2022 being organized and hosted by the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences.
